Caroline Drury, soprano, and James Rightmyer, pianist
Caroline Drury, soprano, pianist, and conductor, is an astute artist and has made a number of performances in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. She has been featured as a soloist in works such as Haydn’s Die Schöpfung, Bach’s Johannes Passion, Händel’s Joshua and Messiah, and Requiems of Brahms, Fauré, Mozart, and Rütti. She has sung as a professional chorister, most notably with the MDR-Rundfunchor, Kölner Kantorei, and Europäischer Kammerchor. Caroline has performed as a collaborative pianist and vocal coach in academia, in seminars, and in churches and choirs. She is the co-founder and director of Ensemble Lumina, an international a cappella chamber choir, which she founded alongside husband and amateur baritone, Hadi Fakhreddine. She holds a Masters in Music from the Manhattan School of Music and graduated from the University of Louisville School of Music summa cum laude. She is based in Paris with her husband, Hadi, and children, Luciano and Leonora.
James Rightmyer, DMA, is Choirmaster Emeritus of St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church, Louisville, Kentucky, a position he held for 40 years. An accomplished organist, pianist, and conductor, he was also the artistic director and conductor of the Louisville Choral Arts Society and the Commonwealth Chorale. Rightmyer has directed a number of major works among which include Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, St Matthew’s Passion, B Minor Mass, and Missa Brevis; the Requiems of Fauré, Carl Rütti, and Pizzetti; Martin’s Mass for two four-part choruses; Rachmaninoff’s All-Night Vigil; Mozart’s Regina coeli; Britten’s War Mass; Händel’s Messiah; Vaughan William’s A Sea Symphony and Mass in G minor; Poulenc’s Stabat Mater; and Kodaly’s Te Deum. James resides in Louisville, Kentucky alongisde his wife and amateur singer, Liddybet. He has two children and several grandchildren.
