The Gee-Mackey Duo has performed in the United States, Europe and Africa. While touring in southern Spain, the duo’s performances were heard on RSAFM, the English language radio program of the Costa del Sol. The Duo’s activities include recitals, premiers of new works by American composers, fund-raising concerts, master classes and workshops. Upcoming performances will include concert venues in the United States and Spain.
Cellist David Gee has performed as soloist, chamber musician and orchestral cellist in America, Europe and Africa and has given radio broadcasts on National Public Radio and Spanish National Radio. He has taught at Yale University, The University of North Carolina, Coastal Carolina University and the University of Memphis. While living in Europe, Mr. Gee gave master classes throughout Andalucía, Spain, and toured extensively with the Boccherini Quartet. Mr. Gee received his instruction from Aldo Parisot, Distinguished Professor of Music at Yale University. He received chamber music instruction from the Tokyo Quartet, Claude Frank and Robert Levin among others. Mr. Gee graduated Summa cum Laude from Purchase College where he received The President’s Award for outstanding achievement. While pursuing a graduate degree from Yale, Mr. Gee was named an Ellen Battel Stoeckel scholar. He plays a cello made by Antonius Guadagnini, currently on loan from The Holm Foundation.
Pianist Lynne Mackey is an active performer of solo, chamber and concerto works. Career highlights include performances at Weill Recital Hall in New York City, the Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada, and in Brazil, Spain, Morocco and the Netherlands. She is also a touring artist with the Virginia Commission for the Arts. Ms. Mackey holds three performance degrees: a Doctorate from the Eastman School of Music, a Masters degree from The Juilliard School, and her Bachelors degree from the University of Michigan. She has been awarded fellowships and residencies, including a residency in Paris at the Cité Internationale des Arts. As harpsichordist, she is Director of the Virginia Baroque Performance Academy, and has performed as concerto soloist, chamber musician, and was invited to perform in a week of solo masterclasses conducted by the distinguished harpsichordist Trevor Pinnock. Ms. Mackey currently teaches on the faculty of Mary Baldwin University, .Staunton, Virginia
