Indian Trail Highschool Choir

The Indian Trail High School and Academy Choir is made up of students from six curricular sections of choirs. The choral program of more than 340 students performs numerous concerts throughout the year for the school as well as the community singing major works as well as traditional concerts. Members of the choral program also perform yearly in the Bradford, Tremper and Indian Trail Madrigal Feaste. Recently, the Women’s Choir was selected to sing at the Wisconsin Choral Directors’ Association State Conference while the Chorale performed Orff’s
Carmina Burana with Carroll University, Mozart’s Mass in C Major with University of Wisconsin-Parkside and  Fauré’s Requiem with Carthage College. They have also performed such works as Handel’s Messiah, Schubert’s Mass in G, Rutter’s Mass of the Children, Mozart’s Requiem, and Rutter’s Requiem. Beside the rigorous
performing schedule, the choir also tours every year domestically and in Europe performing in such places as St. Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral in Memphis, TN; The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine in New York, NY; The Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican City; Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Assisi, Italy; Salzburg Cathedral in
Salzburg, Austria; St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, Austria; and in the Basilica of Santa Maria in Maggiore in Rome, Italy.
John Choi, Director of Choirs
Mr. John Choi is the current director of choirs at Indian Trail High School and Academy; where he teaches six curricular sections of choir as well as two extracurricular choir. John Received his BA in Music from Carroll niversity (Formerly Carroll College) in Waukesha, WI and his MME Choral Conducting Emphasis from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He is the 2008 Recipient of the Outstanding Young Choral Director Award given by the Wisconsin Choral Directors’ Association. Choirs under his direction have toured throughout the United States and Europe.
Mr. Choi has studied conducting with Mr. Richard Severing, Dr. Lawrence Harper (Director of Band Activities and Department Chair, Carroll University), Dr. MarkAamot (Professor Emeritus, Carroll University), Dr. Axel Theimer (Director of Choral Activities, St. John’s University), and Dr. Sharon Hansen (Professor Emeritus,
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) John Choi has studied voice with Mark Gould, Sally Swartz, and Kurt Ollmann and is a member of the Voice Care Network, American Choral Directors’ Association, and the National Association for Music Education.
Monica Scholz, Piano
Monica Scholz is currently the organist and choir director at Messiah Lutheran Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She has been teaching piano for over 30 years. Monica received a BA in Music from the University of Wisconsin Parkside. She is currently an officer in Kenosha Music Teacher’s Association and has been Historian for WMTA. Monica hasbeen the accompanist for Indian Trail High School for the past 12 years and has toured Europe as the accompanist for Wisconsin Ambassadors of Music. Recently, she has been composing her own piano music and will be recording her first album in 2018
